MEET THE COACHES!

MARC BERNINGER

Coach Berninger is a co-founder of the Boston Kraken. After years removed from the sport, Coach Berninger returned to youth hockey to introduce the sport to the next generation. He has been coaching in the MetroWest area for almost ten years - touching a number of programs during this time. Most recently coaching in the EHF and ran the bench for one of the best groups of players and parents in youth hockey. Coach Berninger is also a Head Coach for the BC High-Arrupe (middle school) hockey program. Coach Berninger is a CEP Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach.

SAM FINLEY

Coach Finely is a co-founder of the Boston Kraken. He brings years of player, parent, and coaching experience to the organization. After his collegiate career concluded, Coach Finley remained active in the sport as a player. His passion for the game was passed along to the next generation where he could put his skills to use behind the bench. Coach Finley has been the head coach of his daughter's team for the past four seasons and has worked with his twin boy's teams throughout the years. He has also been the head coach for the Weston/Wayland Girls Middle School Team for the past two seasons, having previously held the Assistant Coach role for one. Coach Finley is a CEP Level 4 certified USA Hockey coach and Level 1 USA Hockey Official.

JENNA MACDONALD

Jenna MacDonald will be joining the Boston Kraken for the 2023 Spring/Summer season. Jenna comes to the program with an impressive resume and skill set. Jenna is currently a member of the Harvard University Women's Hockey team. While with the Harvard program, Jenna has played on the 2022 Beanpot Championship team, played on the 2022 Ivy League Title team, and also notched an NCAA Tournament appearance. A Walpole, MA native, Jenna is very familiar with the MA hockey community. Prior to joining Harvard, Jenna played her high school hockey at The Rivers School - where she was named team captain during her tenure. When not lacing them up, Jenna is studying to earn her degree in Sociology  - after college, she is hoping to put her studies to use with a career in the sports industry. One of Jenna's passions is working with youth athletes and has done so in her spare time for the past few years. She is looking forward to putting her passion, and skill set, to use this summer working with the Kraken players - and hopes to help each player achieve their full potential.

TAYLOR EHLER

Taylor Ehler will be joining the Boston Kraken again for the 2024 Spring/Summer season as an Assistant Coach for the Kraken U10 and U12 teams. Coach Ehler is a returning member of the Boston Kraken - playing in her fourth season with the program at the u16 level. In season, Taylor is a defenseman with the CPC girls program - playing on their nationally bound team,  as she has for most of her hockey career. Taylor currently attends The Rivers School where she has been a varsity player for the last four seasons. When Taylor is not on the ice or in the classroom she has a passion for travel and photography. She is most excited to meet all the new faces and super excited to get to know all of the players!!

ANNALISE REED

Annalise Reed will be joining the Kraken as a design intern for the 2024 Spring/Summer season. Through the summer season she will be on the ice working with the athletes to further their skills, while pursuing her passion for coaching. Growing up in southern New Hampshire she played hockey between NH and MA, and girl’s Junior hockey for the Northern Cyclones and the JWHL Boston Shamrocks. During her time at Bishop Guertin High School, she was named captain of Girl’s Varsity during her senior year in 2019, and played one year for Anna Maria College from 2020-2021. Pursuing a degree in graphic design from Suffolk University, she brings a unique perspective of design back into the hockey world. After college, she hopes to continue designing and branding for sports media, while keeping in touch with the game and the community.
